In Memory of Peter Mathison

At The French Shoppe, we honor the memory of our beloved co-founder, Peter Mathison, who passed away on September 21, 2024. Peter’s journey began with a simple ad in the local paper, leading him to purchase a small French soap business. With his entrepreneurial spirit and a desire for something different, he boldly declared, "I can sell soap!" This marked the beginning of a remarkable adventure.

Together with his wife Lana, Peter transformed his passion into a thriving wholesale business, Savon de Marseille. Their travels to France deepened their appreciation for the rich craftsmanship and beauty of artisan products, ultimately inspiring them to create a retail haven for others to enjoy. Thus, The French Shoppe in Leura was born, a reflection of their love for French culture and its exquisite offerings.

Peter was not just a businessman; he was a friend and mentor to many. His warmth, knowledge, and dedication resonated with our customers, who cherished his insights into the products we offer.
